Kirk Players Adult Summer Workshop & One-Act Play Performances
This summer, we're excited to combine our popular Adult Workshop with our One-Act Play Performances!
Our Artistic Director, Patrick Blake, will lead the workshop, focusing on scene work. Participants have the flexibility to:
  • Read for one of our four exciting One-Act Plays.
  • Focus solely on scene work.
  • Do both!
On our first night, we'll hold readings to assign casts and scenes.
This year's four captivating One-Act plays, winners from our spring writing contest, include:
  • "A Spot of Miscommunication" by Jess Motyka (directed by Jess Motyka)
    • British English and American English collide when meeting the parents. (2F, 2M)
  • "Matchmaker" by Nicole Lawrence (directed by Barb Selvaggio)
    • A hilarious speed-dating encounter. (2-6F, 2M)
  • "Chaperones" by Keith Whalen (directed by Teddi Santos)
    • Imagine two sportscasters narrating a middle school dance. (1F, 1M)
  • "Fair is Foul" by Donna Latham (directed by Chris Brouton)
    • On-air personalities coerce a witch into a forced makeover. (2F, 1M)
These short plays will be performed at Tighthead Brewing Company on Sunday, July 27 in a night of One-Acts titled Love, Fashion, and Second Chances. If you participate in the workshop but aren't cast in a One-Act, or prefer not to perform, you'll still get plenty of hands-on experience working on and critiquing scenes from other plays.
If you have any questions please send them to Patrick Blake, Kirk Players Artistic Director, [email protected]
