Kirk Players has a policy of open casting but will endeavor to cast its active members where ever possible. All casting will be supervised by the Artistic Director. Casting objectives are to provide the show director with the best possible cast for that particular show. Casting decisions are based on at least two reading/audition sessions, the Directors personal judgement on how well the actor’s physical appearance fits the character, the Director’s personal knowledge of the actor’s abilities and experience and the degree of availability for rehearsal.
None of these guidelines are meant to diminish the capacity of the Director from being creative in casting decisions. Indeed, they are meant to encourage the "stretching" of less experienced actors, casting "out of character" of the more experienced actors or any other casting strategies that will provide strong casts for each show, personal development for each actor and positive growth for the entire organization. |
