Kirk Players are once again partnering with the Mundelein Historical Commission for this year's Ivanhoe Cemetery Walk.
Event Date: Saturday, September 27th at 1pm & 3pm Special indoor Performance: Wednesday, October 1st at 7pm at Fremont Library The graves of seven remarkable individuals interned in this Historic cemetery have been selected are: Thomas Payne (1807-1892): an original pioneer who settled in Fremont Township in 1836; James (1854- 1917) and Rebecca (1861-1957) Holcomb: son and daughter-in-law of John Holcomb the founder of the Town of Holcomb, now Mundelein. Mercy Hitchcock Payne (1783-1859): pioneer and original member of Ivanhoe Congregational church. Hurlbut Swan (1797-1878): farmer and county official. Asa Joice (1860-1924) son of James and Jemiah Joice, freed slaves. Asa rose to prominence in Fremont Township as an elected official and member of the Ivanhoe Church council. Ray Wells (1882-1956): first fire chief of Mundelein. Gordon Ray (1893-1987): prominent farmer, carpenter, photographer, and businessman. Script prepared by local author and director, Joyce Lee. Actors will dress in period attire and present factual details on the life and times of the character they are portraying. Monologues will last approximately 3 minutes.
