Membership PolicyMembership shall be open to any person over thirteen years of age who is interested in theatre. The way to become a member is to come and participate in Kirk Players activities. Candidates are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, come to readings, help with set construction and crew, participate in workshop, etc.
The Membership Committee meets periodically to discuss potential members. New members must be recommended by the Membership Committee and be elected by a majority vote of the entire Board of Directors. The Board can choose to accept or reject the recommendation. There is no set timetable for this process. Everyone is considered on an individual basis. We want to get to know each candidate. It is important for the Membership Committee and the Board to see the strength of an individual's commitment as well as what he or she adds to the dynamics of the group. The decision to choose a new candidate for membership will be based on a combination of commitment, enthusiasm, and available time and ability to volunteer in both backstage and/or onstage activities within the Kirk Players group. A love of theatre, a sense of loyalty to the group and a willingness to pitch in and become part of our extended family is a large part of what being a Kirk Player is all about. Kirk Players do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, handicap, military status, familial status or any other class protected by Article 3 of the Illinois Human Rights Act. |
